With 2017 weddings becoming a beautiful memory and 2018 weddings bubbling to the surface, I thought I would get nostalgic on this year’s vendor tour, featuring some of my favorite people and places to partner with to make wedding magic in Springfield, Missouri. Enjoy!

I was SO EXCITED to work with Jessica Yates at my final wedding of the season this year, and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. This girl has a golden reputation among Springfield wedding vendors I have met…and truly, she is amazing.

what to love…

Jessica has a super-chill-roll-with-it vibe that is crucial for a stress-free wedding experience. She is prepared and professional and clearly gifted behind the lens. Her photos do more than record a memory: they tell the story. Bonus: if you want a stellar fireworks shot, this is your girl.

don’t forget…

Photographers book early! They should be one of the first vendors you contact after choosing your wedding date. Make sure your photographer jives with your personality (laid-back or detail-focused?), that you love their style (deep tones and dramatic shots? bright sunlight and candid smiles?), and that they have a package price that works with your budget to get photos you’ll treasure forever!

vendor tour: charity fent cake design

With 2017 weddings becoming a beautiful memory and 2018 weddings bubbling to the surface, I thought I would get nostalgic on this year’s vendor tour, featuring some of my favorite people and places to partner with to make wedding magic in Springfield, Missouri. Enjoy!

Charity Fent was another Springfield wedding vendor that I have been patiently waiting to work with since moving here and starting Bliss Events. I’ve stalked her creations on Facebook for awhile, and admired her marketing pieces that I’ve spotted around town. This was the year. October was the month. Simple elegance was the vision of the bride. It was perfect.

what to love…

Charity has nailed the wedding cake experience, starting with the tasting in her lovely little office and ending with your guests polishing off the last of her delightful tiered creations. She can take any vision–ANY VISION–and turn it into the cake of a bride’s dreams. She is also no-nonsense and hardworking, so you can count on her to get the details straight and to arrive on-time with cake intact.

don’t forget…

An informal poll would tell you that the #1 thing guests look forward to at a wedding is…the wedding cake. Please, please, please hire an experienced baker for your wedding cake. The baking, decorating, and transporting of such a large confection is worth investing in. Secure your baker early in the wedding planning process so you can check that off your list!!

This year marked my first year to get to work with Melanie at The Nest…with a following of nearly 12,500 on their Facebook page, it’s pretty clear that I was behind the curve, and boy was I blown away by her work.

Melanie is super personable during consultations which really helps clients feel comfortable expressing their vision. She works hard to stay within target budgets and always communicates clearly when new ideas or changes may increase the budget. She is prompt and follows-through with requests…and truly delivers a breathtaking product. Jessica Yahn and I go way back. Like, way, way back. Think elementary school.

It wasn’t until October of this year that I had the pleasure of working with her for the first time, at what was easily one of my favorite weddings of the year. I just have to rave a bit about this girl’s work ethic…she started feeling little ill but my bride NEVER knew. Jessica put that smile on her face and got to work, and delivered some truly magical photos.

Simply Delicious regularly takes home top honors for wedding catering in Springfield, and it’s really no wonder why. Chef Patty Wingo and her staff have mastered the art of delivering a delicious meal and excellent customer service, and I am always pleased when a client chooses to go with Simply Delicious…and not just because I know I will be enjoying an amazing meal 😉

Chef Patty can offer a wide variety of menu options to suit your budget. This year, I saw her deliver everything from evening brunch foods, to down-home barbecue, to a classy pork tenderloin and chicken breast option for a black tie affair. With 2017 weddings becoming a beautiful memory and 2018 weddings bubbling to the surface, I thought I would get nostalgic on this year’s vendor tour, featuring some of my favorite people and places to partner with to make wedding magic in Springfield, Missouri. Enjoy!

A good officiant is hard to find. A great officiant is nearly impossible.

Until this year, that is!! I found Matthew through a good, old-fashioned Google search and was BLOWN AWAY by what a fantastic job he did. Professional, with a great personality, he is–hands-down and without apology–my #1 recommendation for a wedding officiant in Springfield.

what to love…

Matthew is a great listener during consultations and is very thorough in planning the order of service. He is eloquent while keeping the focus on the bride and groom during the ceremony, and can shape his words depending on the vision of the couple.

don’t forget…

Officiants can help walk you through the requirements for obtaining a marriage license and can help you decide what kind of elements you would like to include in your ceremony. You should plan to meet with your officiant or talk with them on the phone to make sure they have good communication skills.

vendor tour: haseltine estate

With 2017 weddings becoming a beautiful memory and 2018 weddings bubbling to the surface, I thought I would get nostalgic on this year’s vendor tour, featuring some of my favorite people and places to partner with to make wedding magic in Springfield, Missouri. Enjoy!

I don’t think it’s any secret that Haseltine Estate is one of my FAVORITE venues to help throw a party at. Last weekend was perhaps my favorite weekend of the year: back-to-back shindigs at this beautiful spot–two very different brides with different visions and different budgets–but both perfection in their own way.

about…

Haseltine Estate is an historic mansion on beautifully manicured grounds in Springfield, Missouri. IT IS OVER 100 YEARS OLD, YA’LL. Breathtaking updates– an in-ground pool surrounded by a pergola with chandeliers, a bright and glam bridal loft, and a swanky groom cave (to name a few)–make this a spot your wedding guests will never forget. My nine-year-old daughter has declared this the location of her wedding.

what to love…

This space needs so little and it will still look amazing in photographs and impress all the friends and fam. Tyler and Natalie work hard to make sure their clients have an amazing experience every step of the way, from hosting open houses to bring vendors and VIPs to making sure the place is in top shape when you arrive on the big day.

best for…

Couples with a fairy-tale or elegant/classy vision and a guest list around 100 people for the best layout options, with a date between late April-late October.

don’t forget…

Haseltine Estate is a mostly-outdoor venue. Couples who don’t do well with risking the weather should make sure they have a back up plan they are comfortable with (especially with very large guest lists). If you have many guests with a disability or need wheelchair access, please make sure you keep their comfort in mind when you are considering venue options.

vendor tour: shana lynne photography

With 2017 weddings becoming a beautiful memory and 2018 weddings bubbling to the surface, I thought I would get nostalgic on this year’s vendor tour, featuring some of my favorite people and places to partner with to make wedding magic in Springfield, Missouri. Enjoy!

I cannot tell the story of Bliss Events without Shana Lynne’s name coming up in the conversation. It was after her brother’s wedding that I began percolating the idea of really specializing in weddings. I sat on her couch the day we both decided to be all in, and to do it together! I partnered with her and some other amazing ladies to create The Bridal Experience, a super fun boutique bridal show that was SUPER fun.

But also…she takes great photographs 🙂

what to love…

Shana is all about giving her clients the very best photos at a price they can afford, and will not stop until she has produced works of art that make her clients look and feel as beautiful as they are. She’s been focusing on weddings since 2014, and specializes in photographs full of bright, natural sunlight.

vendor tour: enchanted hills

With 2017 weddings becoming a beautiful memory and 2018 weddings bubbling to the surface, I thought I would get nostalgic on this year’s vendor tour, featuring some of my favorite people and places to partner with to make wedding magic in Springfield, Missouri. Enjoy!

My wedding season kicked off in June this year at this incredibly beautiful property. It was the first time I had the opportunity to work with Enchanted Hills since moving to Springfield, and boy, was I thrilled to find yet another amazing venue to recommend to my clients. Here’s my real deal take on the experience:

about…

Enchanted Hills has been hosting weddings at this all-outdoor property for over twenty years, crafting beautiful natural features (a large pond, beautiful lawn, and a WATERFALL!!) and fine-tuning the more practical (a pavilion in case of rain, an extra guest bathroom, and concrete slabs for the catering tables.) They also offer special packages to help couples who could use extra convenience, with pricing listed right on their website…also super-convenient.

what to love…

Athena Gideon, the manager and coordinator, is a total ROCKSTAR of a venue owner. She is prompt to answer questions, available to open the venue if you need to check it out, and goes beyond to help resolve issues that arise. It’s also entirely photo-ready, so if you showed up in just a gown with a simple bouquet you could still easily get 100’s of beautiful wedding photographs. Love that.

best for…

Enchanted Hills is best for couples who want an outdoor wedding for the deep green backdrop, clear blue skies, and soothing sounds of water, with a guest list between 100-150, a laid-back vibe, and a date set May-October.

don’t forget…

Enchanted Hills is an all-outdoor venue. Couples who don’t do well with risking the weather should make sure they have a back up plan they are comfortable with. If you have many guests with a disability or need wheelchair access, please make sure you keep their comfort in mind when you are considering venue options.
